EXPERIENCE ROOTED IN REAL-WORLD PRACTICE
We build instruction around practical experiences drawn from military service, law enforcement, security, and care-based environments, creating training that reflects real-life situations rather than relying solely on theory. At The Black Belt Foundation, over 60 years of combined coaching knowledge shape classes that focus on awareness, control, and decision-making under pressure. We integrate traditional martial arts with modern self-defence principles, ensuring every session supports confidence, personal safety, and long-term development within a structured and supportive academy setting.

LEADERSHIP GUIDED BY PROVEN CREDENTIALS
We are led by David Whiteside, whose 40+ years in martial arts guide the academy with consistency and purpose. His recognised grades in Traditional Ju-Jitsu and Israeli Kapap / Krav Maga influence a balanced approach that values discipline, adaptability, and safety. At The Black Belt Foundation, professional backgrounds in Quality Management and Health & Safety inform how classes are delivered, ensuring clear progression, well-managed sessions, and a learning environment built around responsibility and trust.
INCLUSIVE COACHING WITH SAFETY AT THE CORE
We place inclusion and safeguarding at the heart of daily training, offering structured support for children, adults, and individuals with SEND. Enhanced DBS checks, first aid certification, and recognised registrations ensure every class meets strict professional standards. We focus on positive communication, adaptive coaching, and individual goal-setting, allowing confidence and resilience to develop naturally. Let us create a family-focused space where progress feels achievable, supported, and genuinely rewarding.
WEEKLY TRAINING TIMETABLE AND CLASS STRUCTURE
We deliver a carefully planned weekly timetable that supports structured learning, personal development, and inclusive training across all age groups and abilities. Sessions are organised to provide consistent progression, allowing children, teens, and adults to train at suitable times throughout the week. Dedicated Inclusive SEND classes, Lil Dragons early-years programmes, Close Quarters Survival (QCS) Kapap–Krav Maga, lai-Jutsu, and Close Quarters Combatives ensure varied pathways for growth. Let us provide flexible access to disciplined, confidence-building martial arts training across Nantwich, Leyland, and Shavington.
The Black Belt Foundation is a great place to learn not only martial arts but also self-defence. My daughter has been going now since 2019 and has grown in confidence and self-esteem, and is going from strength to strength. The staff are always very welcoming, friendly and professional. We have never been able to get our daughter interested in any clubs previously, but here she's so comfortable and looks forward to her classes.
